A buttock augmentation, otherwise known as “Brazilian Butt Lift” or “BBL” is a procedure that allows for the increase in the size of your behind. If you are proceeding with buttock implants, an incision will be made either at the top of both sides of the buttock, at the bottom of both sides in the gluteal creases, or down the center of the crease between the buttocks. A silicone implant made especially for the buttocks will be placed on each side. Your surgeon will use their knowledge and expertise to determine the correct positioning and degree of enlargement based on your body type and your specific goals. The results of this procedure are immediately visible but will continue to improve with time, once swelling resolves and incision scars fade.
If you decide to proceed solely with fat transfer, no implants will be utilized. In this procedure, liposuction is performed through small incisions in order to remove excess fat from target sites on the body such as the abdomen or thighs. A small hollow tube known as a cannula is inserted into the incisions in a back and forth motion in order to loosen the excess fat. A surgical vacuum can then remove this fat so that it can be injected into the buttocks through syringes. The fat retrieved from fat grafting is processed so that all tissue and blood is removed prior to injection. Similarly to buttock implants, the results are immediately visible yet the final results can be seen after about 1 year. This procedure tends to offer more natural-looking –and feeling– results.
